Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) and United Nations
Children’s Fund (UNICEF) organized the conference on National Evaluation
Capacity Development at the Sukosol Bangkok, on August 27th, 2018.
The conference aimed to increase awareness of social KPIs and effectively
development in relation to the 12th National Economic and Social
Development Plan and the 20-Year National Strategic Plan.
The conference started with the welcoming
remarks from Mr. Thomas Davin, UNICEF Thailand Representative, the opening speech from Mr. Pakorn Nilprapunt, Secretary-General of OPDC on ‘Strengthening
National Evaluation Capacities and Achieving the SDGs in Thailand’ and keynote
presentation on ‘the Importance of National Capacities for Monitoring and
Evaluation in Asia’ by Dr. Ricardo Polastro, Regional Advisor
on Evaluation (UNICEF).
The next session was ‘Fostering Social KPIs and
National Evaluation Systems for Thailand’ by Ms. Christina Popivanova, Chief of
Social Policy, UNICEF, Ms. Soontree Supasaguan, Deputy-Secretary General of
OPDC, Prof. Somchai Jitsuchon from TDRI and also presentations from National
Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) representative.
UNICEF and OPDC both focus on the development
and resolution on problems that impact to children and youth in Thailand. The
sustainable development comes from the study of statistics and indicators,
especially the monitoring and evaluation process. The cooperation between two
organizations will lift up the result-based planning capacity through the
setting of social KPIs, the evaluation and implementation as well as the
leveraging of capacity for all agencies concerned.
